Arte de La Ciudad

Arte De artwork
La Ciudad

I just got plane tix to el D.F. for the holidays but it seems Mexico City is coming to Chicago. The Field Museum is bringing in some incredible pre-columbian artifacts from the Museo de Antropología and now this art exhibit opening up in my neighborhood.

Check it out! Thumbs Up to Oskar & the Zhou Brothers for bringing it to Bridgeport. Saludos - Diana

Join them for the opening reception of "Arte De La Ciudad" on Friday November 14, 2008 from 6-8PM.

The contemporary art scene in Mexico has become a must-see attraction for U.S. and european curators and art patrons. Mexico City especially, has become a hub for new art, with contemporary commercial galleries, alternative and artist run spaces and special salons--breaking the longstanding pattern of government-run galleries and exhibition spaces.
"Arte De La Ciudad" is bringing in twenty contemporary artists from Mexico City showcasing a fresh and current under 40 generation of Mexican artists like Pablo Castillo alongside such white-hot contemporary artists as Tatiana Montoya and Curro Gomez. This exhibition, with an invitation only private opening on Friday, November 14th will run through the first week in January at the Zhou B. Center located in Chicago's south side neighborhood of Bridgeport.

We miss Mexico City. My wife and I visited for a week in 2005. It was truly amazing and one of those cities that it is a hub for ideas. Unsuspectingly, Tijuana has now joined the ranks of being one of Mexico's very hip and modern cities. It always seems difficult to convince people how innovative so many things are in Mexico.
