Community Media Update

A Roundtable Discussion on the State of Community Media
FREE
3:30 to 5 p.m.
Thursday, June 12
Columbia College Chicago Film Row Cinema,
1104 S. Wabash, 8th floor. Free

Not long ago many of us at nonprofits felt the Internet was a frill we could skip, either because our constituents were not on-line or because our work was here in the "real world." Many more now see value in the tools and excitement around new media and sense its potential to help us advance our missions and build our organizations.

Get updated on what's changed, what's coming down the road at us, and why at the Community Media Update, capping off Community Media Workshop’s annual conference there.

Panelists: Charles Benton of the Benton Foundation, Britt Bravo, Tech Soup; Pierre Clark, Chicago Digital Access Alliance; Beth Kanter, Beth’s Blog, and Heather Mansfield, Diosa Communications and Thom Clark, moderator will look at how trends have changed the ways that nonprofits look at new media and what changes we should look for in the coming year.

Local presenters will demonstrate best practices: Antonio Garcia, Firebelly Foundation, will show off the Reason to Give campaign, Tania Unzueta will discuss RadioArte’s New Routes for Immigrant Health collaboration, and Dan Weissmann will show off Vocalo’s integration of radio and new media.
