When King Basilio's son Segismundo is born, horoscopes predict he will become a monster. In an attempt to undo fate, the King locks his child in a tower for 25 years in hope of preventing a catastrophe. Rivera takes inspiration from the Spanish Golden Age master while creating his original spin on this mystical, haunting, and humorous tale.
