Teatro Vista and American Theater Company proudly present Living Out by Lisa Loomer and directed by Cecilie Keenan.
Teatro Vista and American Theater Company announce their unique co-production of Living Out. This is the first time both theatre companies are working together to bring a hilarious and thought provoking play to Chicago theatre-goers. Artistic Director Edward F. Torres of Teatro Vista says, "We are thrilled to be part of this co-production. It establishes a common ground in which both theatre companies can come together artistically and share and explore the the differences in this vast culture that we know to be American and Latino in the U.S." American Theater Company's Artistic Director Damon Kiely also had some thoughts on the co-production, "I couldn't be happier to be telling this distinctly American story with Teatro Vista. I think Lisa Loomer's characters are right on the money both on the Latino and Anglo side; she doesn't pull any punchs. That's why it's so funny and in the end so thought provoking."
Play Synopsis: Ana is an immigrant from Latin America with two children and Nancy is a liberal L.A. attorney with a newborn baby. Their paths cross when Ana needs a job in order to bring her son from El Salvador and Nancy decides to go back to work and needs a "live-out" nanny for her child. They both struggle to find a common ground as they grapple with the guilt of leaving their children to be raised by someone else while pursuing the American dream. Featuring Teatro Vista ensemble member Sandra Márquez and Carmen Severino and Cheryl Graeff (ATC ensemble member)
