Reading Blex's blog about Oprah has inspired this blog entry. I agree she made a jack ass out of herself by mocking the accent of a South African child. Being too cutesy can back fire. Bad move by her and the public relation department. You dropped the ball folks, fix it. More than one person noticed.
Now on the flipside of this, I have to ask, tax evasion?
-If it were a man doing tax evasion I don't think anyone would bat an eyelash.
-Who other than Oprah is raising huge sums of money for causes like African children with aids, making an impact and showing you where the money folks are sending is going towards?
-How many rich folks actually care about these impoverished aids stricken kids?
-I strongly feel if you are rich and influential than you do have a social responsibility to motivate people to give what they can to get things like medicine and school supplies to those that otherwise wouldn't have those things. Oprah's delivers and as a woman more power to her.
Now that I got my Oprah entry out of my system I will be on the hunt for coffee. Feliz Navidad to all bloggers.

well, it's true that O and Bono have done alot to bring the AIDS problem in Africa to the forefront. Many people don't care what happens outside the USA. Many people think the AIDS problem is "under control" because less AMERICANS are dying from it. Other celebs like Paris don't give a rats ass about African children dying of AIDS.
Then maybe it's all a matter of perspective. It's true what Diana said that Oprah delivers. Perhaps for the children in South Africa, it doesn't really matter that Oprah made fun of the accent just as long as they get the necessary medicine/stuff they need.
And soon Oprah will surpass Mother Theresa just like Princess Diana did.
That is sad.
though I do question O's motives at times. People can do good deeds but the reasons behind them are also genuine or right. One should help without expecting something in return.
So my final thoughts on this are:
1. Oprah, less cutesy and more consciousness of what you say and do.
2. We can agree to disagree
3. It's not about O it's about the children with Aids in South Africa and making sure that someone gets them the medications/school supplies they need so that they can have a future.
Ayyi ayyo!
The topic is not going away from my blog any time soon.
Sorry, now it is me the one making an ass out of himself.
